Oil Dependency

February 9, 2007

Dealing with dependency
Requires breaking the grip
Of one's opiate.

Narcotic fears lie to us:
Oil and fossil fuels are good
For the world economy
And pose few threats
To the environment.

Face down these lies.
Resolve to face the truth
Unafraid and with determination.

Fossil fuels drive us
Even more insidiously
Than cocaine and amphetamines
Push their depraved junkies.

Our first woman President
Is well and best-suited
To bring strength
And compassion to
Our despotic enslavement
To oil and fossil fuels.

The old way of
Blind dependency
Must be discredited.
Oil is not king.

Wanton demands
For speed,
Muscle-bound capacities,
And excessively luxurious features
Must be curbed.

Speed and his brothers kill,
Betray our world,
And pollute our minds,
Bodies and environs.

Through friendly persuasion
Our new President
Can break the old mindset.
Energy does not equal fossil fuels.

Oil companies must help
Lead us out of this crisis
Or get out of the business.

Give consumers
Viable energy alternatives
Sooner rather than later.

Innovate new energy paradigms
That empower us
Without driving us to guzzle,
Pollute and squander.

President Hillary Clinton
Can lead the world
Out of our energy sickness
By calling for a new order
In energy, technology,
And the environment.

We can learn
From the world's
Best energy solutions.

Power, grace, and
Gradual progress
Will free us from
Our fears and
Oil dependency.

The time has come
For Hillary Clinton's
Leadership.
